Lessons are delivered in Hounslow, Feltham,  Bedfont, Hanworth, Heston, Isleworth, Osterley, Brentford, Hanwell, Twickenham, St. Margarets, Whitton, Teddington, Ashford (Middx).

New to Driving............

All ages of learners are welcome & I am particularly sympathetic to nervous clients. Driving lessons can be either 1 hour, 1.5 hours or 2 hours long & Lessons will be structured to meet your needs.

The Driving Standards Agency as a guideline say on average people who pass their driving test have usually had approximately 47 hours of driving lessons from a Driving Instructor & 20 hours of private practice. With Lorraine you will get one-to-one lessons in a modern Ford Fiesta.

There is flexibility in how you pay for your lessons. You can either pay-as-you-train for each lesson or if you are in the position to do so pre-pay for a block booking and get yourself a discounted rate.

If you are helping a relative or friend to pay to learn to drive, gift vouchers are available on request for any number of lessons.

How to get a Provisional Licence
You begin your driving lessons you must have a Provisional Driving Licence. You can apply for this three months before your 17th Birthday by completing an application form which is available from the post office. Go to www.gov.uk for more information.

The Theory Test - What should I expect?

Part 1 - Multiple Choice
Before the test begins you will be given instructions on how the test works. If you prefer you can go through a practice session of multiple choice questions to get use to the format of the test. Then the real test will start.

Questions with several possible answers will appear and you need to select the correct answer or answers.  You can flag questions that you want to come back to later in the test. You will be asked 50 questions in 57 minutes and you must achieve 43 out of 50.

Part 2 - Hazard Perception
Before you start the Hazard Perception you can choose to have a 3 minute break. You will be then shown a clip on how the hazard perception test works.

You will watch a series of 14 video clips featuring every day road scenes. In each clip there will be at least one developing hazard with one of the clips featuring two developing hazards.

To get a high score you must respond to the developing hazard in the early part of the development. The maximum score you can get on each hazard is five.

You must get 44 out of 75 in this part of the test.

You will be given your result by the centre staff & you must pass part 1 & part 2 at the same time to pass your theory test.

Practice Hint: The DSA produce a set of official discs or the Focus Driving Test Success DVD package is available from a range of retailers & is considerably cheaper! Amazon or somewhere similar is a good place usually to buy the discs!
Remember there is usually waiting time when booking a theory test. For more information or to book the Theory Test go to: www.gov.uk

If you choose to I can sit in the car & observe your driving test. When the test ends the result & feedback will be given to you & me.

Need a different Driving Instructor?

Even if you have had lessons in the past but didn’t pass your test then then get in touch. I can create a learning package just for you so your current skills can be developed, weaknesses strengthened & confidence improved.

 After passing your Test...............

Newly qualified drivers are more likely to have an accident in the first 2 years of driving than at any other time in their driving career. Taking a Pass Plus course offers you, as a newly qualified driver  the opportunity to reduce the risk by improving your road knowledge & skills.

The following 6 modules will be covered & although there is not a test at the end, your progress will be monitored & you must achieve or exceed in each module to be awarded the Pass Plus Certificate.

·         Town Driving

·         All Weather Driving

·         Out of Town Driving & Rural Roads

·         Night Driving

·         Motorway driving

The Pass Plus course is usually for drivers who have passed within the past year & if undertaken then some insurance companies with make you eligible for a discount. You must check with your individual insurance company.

Motorway sessions

If you have a full licence & would like to gain experience driving on the motorway, then this possible. We can work on planning your journey, develop the skills you already have from driving on dual carriageways & cover how to react to signs & road markings.
